NEW ORLEANS -- Anthony Davis and Brian Roberts proved a pair of second-year players can carry the young Pelicans to a victory over a veteran team with playoff aspirations. Gareon Conley Raiders Jersey . Davis had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Roberts scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, and New Orleans beat the Atlanta Hawks 105-100 on Wednesday night. "Im always telling our guys, Everybody has written you guys off, so what do you have to lose? Just go out there and play. Ive got your back either way," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. Paul Millsap had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who have lost two in a row. DeMarre Carroll added 22 points. "Roberts made some big shots," said Hawks guard Jeff Teague, who had 11 points and 13 assists. "We just got stagnant on defence. Our intensity on defence just wasnt there. We didnt play with attention to detail in the last couple of plays." Davis and Roberts made Atlanta pay, each scoring six points in the final 3:40. Davis has been stellar all season, and his performance against Atlanta marked the 16th time hes had at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in the same game. Roberts only recently moved into a starting role at point guard because of Jrue Holidays stress fracture in his right shin. Roberts made only one of five shots in the first half before turning in one of the best second halves of his young career. "Hes growing up and he understands when to make plays," Davis said. Roberts did have one glaring error when he had a turnover that led to a score during a late 7-0 Atlanta run that trimmed the Hawks 10-point deficit to three with a little less than a minute left. Roberts made up for it with a running, off-balance floater on New Orleans next possession to make it 100-95 with 20 seconds to go. "That was a tough turnover right there," Roberts said. "I just try to move on and focus on the next play. ... I was going to get it back and I was able to make that floater and finish them off." Eric Gordon added 18 points and Anthony Morrow 16 for the Pelicans, who have won six of their last nine games. Atlanta was in position to win when Mike Scotts 3-pointer capped an 8-0 run and gave the Hawks an 83-76 lead with 7:45 to play, but the Pelicans then ran off nine straight points to regain the lead. "Thats a tough loss for our group," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said, referring to his clubs blown fourth-quarter lead. "Our execution needs to improve when were in that situation." The Hawks led for the entire third quarter, taking their largest lead at 54-47 on Carrolls 3 12 seconds into the period. Scott hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points for the Hawks, while Lou Williams had 11 points. The teams stayed within single digits of each other for nearly the entire game. The largest lead for either team was 10 for New Orleans after Davis free throws late in the fourth quarter. That lead lasted all of 8 seconds before Scott hit a 3. Atlanta had 14 3s on 30 attempts from deep, with Carroll hitting four. The Hawks had one stretch in which they hit nine straight 3-point attempts -- their last four of the second quarter and first five of the third. The Pelicans, however, scored 20 points on free throws, while Atlanta had only 10. New Orleans also outrebounded Atlanta 50-38. NOTES: The Pelicans have scheduled a ceremony on Thursday to rename the New Orleans Arena as the Smoothie King Center. Pelicans officials confirmed to The Associated Press and several other media outlets on Wednesday afternoon that they had reached a 10-year naming rights agreement with the Louisiana-based company. ... Davis blocked one shot, ending a streak of seven games in which hed blocked at least four. ... Atlantas Kyle Korver was 2 for 5 from 3-point range. Kyle Wilber Raiders Jersey . -- The Green Bay Packers have signed quarterback Graham Harrell to the active roster from the practice squad and placed tight end Andrew Quarless on injured reserve. Pressley missed all of last season with Cincinnati because of a knee injury, but the 5-foot-10, 249-pounder had been expected to fill a need on Clevelands roster.ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Von Miller is back -- and bigger than ever. His coach and his teammates said Denvers All-Pro linebacker looked great Wednesday in his first practice since serving his six-game drug abuse suspension -- all 270 pounds of him. Thats how much Miller said he weighed in at this week, a good 24 pounds heavier than when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year honours in 2011. Miller has long wanted to gain weight because he figures it will help him overpower offensive linemen. Six weeks of watching games on his TV gave him that chance, although by all accounts he was far from a couch potato during his banishment for violating the leagues drug-abuse policy. Miller said he had no trouble with the extra muscle or the altitude because he served his suspension working with the Broncos trainers, a nutritionist and a personal pass rush specialist so that his cardiovascular conditioning wouldnt be an issue upon his return. "I feel good. Im in the best shape of my life," Miller said. "I feel a lot stronger, quicker, faster. Its not like Im running 100 yards or 400 yards there, so I definitely felt good. All the feedback I was getting from my teammates and everybody looked like I was good. There was a hurry-up period in there that was tough, but thats what its designed to be is tough." Coach John Fox said Miller "had an outstanding practice. Obviously hes got fresh legs and ready to roll and excited about the opportunity this week." Safety Rahim Moore said, "Im quite sure he misses the game a lot but he hasnt missed a step. He had a great practice today. He looked good. Im looking forward to watching him play." The Broncos may have gone 6-0 in Millers absence, but they sorely missed him disrupting quarterbacks -- theyre ranked dead last in the league in pass defence. "Hes going to makee a huge difference," cornerback Chris Harris said. Tahir Whitehead Raiders Jersey. "Teams have just been coming out and saying, Its going to be seven on seven, were just going to throw the ball. If they come out and do that now, we have our rusher now to where they cant just sit back and pass the ball all day like that." Miller was clearly relieved to return to practice and answer questions about football after months of stories about his suspension and about traffic tickets. "I feel stronger just all around, mentally, physically, all around," Miller said. "When you dont have to worry about nothing, its just football, its a whole lot easier. Ive been studying and everything. I just feel good. Ive said it before. Im in a great place physically and mentally." Miller said hes been "paying attention in meetings, even more so than I would do normally. But I was ready to go. I wanted to make sure when I came back that I wasnt a step behind. If anything, Ive been conditioning and working out and doing everything possible to get myself ready for practice and the games." Miller also spent a week during his suspension working with renowned pass-rush specialist Chuck Smith, a former defensive end with the Atlanta Falcons. "Definitely working with a guy that focuses on pass rush, especially for me while I had all this time off to focus on that, it was instrumental," Miller said. "He didnt try to change me; he just helped me." The Broncos also welcomed back middle linebacker Wesley Woodyard (shoulder stringer) and defensive end Robert Ayers (shoulder) back to practice after both missed a week. Miller, who had 30 sacks in his first two seasons, including a franchise-record 18 1/2 last season, makes his debut Sunday against the Colts (4-2) in Peyton Mannings return to Indianapolis.
